Moms, daughters, and avocados

Avocados were on sale this week and I LOVE avocados. Every time my mom and I get together, we make a special little open-faced sandwich: toast with mayo, sliced avocados and salt. Yum! And it always reminds me of my mom, which is fun. Anyway, so today I made myself such a sandwich and thought I would share the joy of avocados with MY daughter. Well, here's how it went....

Maybe we'll have to find a different tradition.

  1. Come on Mom, those were pretty big bites for a beginner! That eye blinking and shuttering should have given you a clue. Madeline was a very good sport and you can tell that she loves her mommy!

  5. Wow I definitely share your love of avocados! And I think with a little work Madeline could acquire a taste for them! I am totally trying that sandwich of yours, sounds delicious...

  6. i love watching babies eat! Great expressions. She was actually pretty tolerant, i think. Brianna will shut her lips super tight so I cant get anything in. And she will shake her head NO really forcefully and glare at me. I should do a video too. We had to mix avocados with bananas to make her like them. And if you think about it... most people dont eat avocados plain. Like you said - you mix it with mayo and salt. So I dont blame her for not wanting it plain. But Ive also heard you have to try a new food like 10 times before deciding they dont like it. Though whoever said that probably doesnt realize that its a lot of work to go through just to be rejected 10 times...
Anyways - I just love her smile! Is she always that smiley?! It seems like whenever you said anything, she would just look up and you with the biggest grin! (perfect opportunity to sneak more food in! :)
    What a happy little girl.

  7. I just realized I have not answered your question about "Breaking Dawn." The problem is, my answer is I don't know. I'm glad to have read it to finish up the series, and I do love a happy ending, but it was just so much. So many times I was annoyed at how "out there" it seemed. And then I realized I was reading a book about vampires and werewolves and that in and of itself was just crazy. So I would recommend reading it to finish the series, but I honestly don't know how much I really liked it. How is that for confusing? Sorry.

Oh, I fed Ben some avocado yesterday and he seemed to love it. I was so surprised and couldn't quit laughing. Not the cheapest baby food though (especially in MA), so I'm not sure how often he will get it. Take care Malerie!

  13. Two impressions from this--I think my grand-daughter has her mother's wonderful temperament--many a Weed child would be howling and spitting if required to eat green vegetables, but Madeline is smiling in spite of it all!

Second, her eyes are so amazing, especially the light in them when Malerie is laughing>
